Aprilaire - HUMIDIFERS AND DE-HUMIDIFIERS
Humidification—the process of adding moisture to the air—is one of the most important aspects of total indoor comfort, yet it’s one of the least understood. Maybe this is because people associate humidity with the discomfort of hot, steamy summer days. And it’s true that too much humidity causes problems. Yet when properly controlled, humidity offers many proven benefits to your health, home and comfort. Using an Aprilaire Whole-Home Humidifier is one of the most effective ways to add the proper amount of humidity to your indoor air and prevent the problems caused by dry air.
Central humidifiers can protect your family and home from unhealthy effects of over-dry air. At Randerson Heating and Cooling, we're trained to provide maintenance, repair, and installation for home humidifier systems.
Benefits of Home Humidifiers
1) Central humidifiers continually monitor humidity levels in your home to deliver the right amount of moisture throughout the house. They also don't require daily cleaning, and you never need to worry about the risk of microbial organism growth due to standing water.
2) Comfort and Health: Dry air can prevent your body from getting the moisture it needs, leaving you and your family with itchy skin, dry nose, and throat symptoms and increase the chance of upper respiratory problems.
3) Home Protection: Dry air pulls moisture from walls and hardwood floors, which leads to cracks that may need repair.
4) Energy Savings: Many homeowners turn up the thermostat when they feel cold. Central humidifiers allow you to feel warmer at lower thermostat settings, saving on your heating bill.

THERMOSTATS AND CONTROLS
Chances are, you probably don’t think about your furnace very much, as long as it keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. To keep your system working at optimal performance and prevent possible malfunctions, your furnace filter needs to be replaced or cleaned on a regular basis.
The furnace filter protects the blower fan from dust, hair and other dirt particles that may be pulled in through the return duct.
How filters are rated
Furnace filters are rated using the minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV). MERV ratings range from 1 to 16. The higher the rating the more particles the filter can remove. Typically, a MERV rating between 8 and 11 is adequate for most homes.
